Awesome start to the New Year. Jan 5, 2024
Totally recommend to fellow travellers
Ruth d: We got Lucky. As we spent most of our time on the shore taking pictures of the seals, we were offered snacks on the drive back up.
We saw some goats and sheep along the way. And even caught a glimpse of the excited farm dogs that help on the farm. The new 4WD Van's are super comfy and feel very safe going down the track to the rocky shore.

Thank you Grant for a great New Year. Jan 2, 2024
Must do no matter your age or size
Family: The highlight of our Wellington visit. Grant our tour guide was amazing and full of information. We were so lucky as we had him to ourselves. The mini bus was comfortable, airconditioned and easy to get in and out of (I was worried as I am a larger person with a bad knee). The scenery along the way amazing and the time viewing the seals awesome. I would recommend this to everyone. Can't wait to return and do a different trip with this company.

Thanks Blue! . March 24, 2024
Totally recommend to fellow travellers
Couple: I have to thank Seal Cost Safari for being so easy to work with through the booking process. They were super responsive and kept in touch up to the day of our tour.
That said, we had an awesome day with Blue at the Gardens and rainforest. The highlight of the day was getting to see the seals in their natural habitat.

Tour description
Join us for this unique and exciting exploration of Wellington’s natural wonders and rugged south coast. Meet us at the Central Wellington iSite.
Travelling in 4WD Mercedes vehicles, we visit an area of pristine native forest with the chance to see iconic bird species like Tui, Kaka and Kereru or our native falcon. We visit spectacular historic rain forest and venture through private farmland with sheep & cattle. If the weather allows you are being treated to stunning views of the Cook Strait, South Island and Kaikoura Ranges.
Once down to sea-level, we’ll meet some much-loved locals – New Zealand Fur Seals. Observe these playful animals as they sunbathe and swim. Learn about their history, ecology, habitat and conservation status. The Seal Coast Safari is a must-do for anyone who loves nature, wildlife, and adventure.

Morning vs Afternoon Tours
The general rule of thumb is to let the weather and your travel itinerary be the judge. The coast is fascinating at any time as the seasons change. Wild wind rock the tops and blow the sky free for spectacular views.
